Yannis Panagakis is an Associate Professor in Machine Learning in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the University of Athens, where he serves as Director of Graduate Studies and Director of the MSc in Language Technology. He is also a Lead Researcher at Archimedes, Athena Research Center. Prior to his current positions, he held appointments at Samsung AI Research Centre in Cambridge and Imperial College London. Yannis obtained his Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and his B.Sc. from the University of Athens.

His research focuses on developing principled mathematical frameworks for trustworthy AI, with particular emphasis on tensor methods and deep learning for multimodal information processing. He tackles fundamental challenges in generalization, robustness, and interpretability across computer vision, brain-computer interfaces, and algorithmic auditing. Supported by several grants and fellowships, he has published over 120 articles in leading journals and conferences.
